School & daycare cleaning

School and daycare cleaning your licensing officer will not question

A daycare director or school principal carries a kind of responsibility most facility buyers never feel. Parents hand you their children every morning, a licensing officer can arrive without notice, and the surfaces that matter are the ones at toddler height: cubbies, change tables, low sinks, nap mats and the floor everyone sits on. You cannot have a cleaner who treats the building like an office tower.

What is at stake when children are the occupants

CedarPact Facility Group cleans independent schools, Montessori and preschool programs, licensed daycares and after-school care sites across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, always when children are not present. We write the checklist around your licensing requirements and your own hygiene routines, use products chosen for environments where small hands touch everything, and document each visit so your records are ready when the inspector asks.

Licensed childcare in BC is inspected by licensing officers from the local health authority under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and the Child Care Licensing Regulation. Cleanliness of the premises, washrooms, kitchens and play areas is part of what they look at, and inspection findings follow the facility. A missed washroom is not a small thing in that context.

Children share everything, including illness. Hand-foot-and-mouth, norovirus and the winter run of colds move through a room by way of door handles, tables, toys and taps. A consistent disinfection routine with a Health Canada registered product, applied with the right contact time, is the difference between a case and an outbreak that empties your enrolment for a week.

Parents notice. The entryway at drop-off, the smell of the washroom, whether the nap room floor looks swept. Independent schools compete on reputation and tuition, and daycares in the Lower Mainland keep waitlists only as long as families trust the space. A clean, well-kept facility is part of what they are paying for and part of what keeps staff.

Schedule

Cleaning when the children are not there

Daycares and preschools are typically cleaned five evenings a week after the last pick-up, with washrooms, diapering areas, tables and floors every visit. Independent schools usually run five nights across classrooms, washrooms, gym and common areas, with deep cleans scheduled into breaks and summer closure. After-school programs sharing a space are cleaned after the program ends. We never clean around children, and the start time is set from your closing hour and licence conditions.

Standards

Licensing, inspections and the records that back you up

Licensed childcare facilities in BC operate under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and the Child Care Licensing Regulation, with licensing officers from Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal Health or your regional health authority monitoring compliance through facility inspections. Independent schools are inspected under the Independent School Act, and facility safety is part of that review. Our checklist is written against what those inspections look at.

Products we bring on site are labelled, stored out of children's reach as your licence requires, and listed in safety data sheets your director can file. Staff are background-checked, uniformed and trained in WHMIS 2015 and safe chemical handling, and we clean only when children are absent. Each visit is logged and documented inspection reports are available for your licensing binder.

FAQ

Schools & Daycares: questions we hear a lot

Not covered here? Call (604) 341-2325 and a person answers, not a call centre.

What products do you use around children?

Disinfectants registered with Health Canada and carrying a Drug Identification Number, applied with the label contact time, and eco-certified products on request for general cleaning. Everything is stored out of reach as your licence requires, and the full product list with safety data sheets is written into your scope for your licensing binder.

Can you do deep cleans during school breaks?

Yes. Winter, spring and summer closures are when classrooms get moved out and detailed, carpets extracted and gym and hallway floors stripped and refinished. We plan break work with your administrator months ahead so the building is ready for the first day back, and the schedule is written into your program.

How soon can you start?

Your start date is set at the walkthrough, so you know it before your account manager leaves. We handle the switch for you: keys, alarm codes, supply closets and the checklist are sorted before the first visit, so there is no gap between your current cleaner and us.

Are your staff cleared to work in a childcare setting?

Yes. Our staff are background-checked, uniformed and trained, and they clean only when children are not on the premises. CedarPact carries $2,000,000 in liability insurance and is registered with WorkSafeBC. If your licence or school policy requires a specific clearance for contractors who access the building, raise it when we scope the job and your account manager will confirm what documentation can be provided before the first visit.
